Down and out, again

Amidst a sizzling day of record-setting temperatures, another wicked storm ripped through our farm yesterday; two, in fact. The first knocked out our power around 3 p.m. while the second touched down around 7:30 p.m., bringing with it hail, gale-force winds and intense lightning strikes.

We're safe, thankfully, but this time the damage is more widespread. I know I should be cultivating some sense of gratitude and appreciation for coming through unscathed but instead I'm feeling battered and raw, just like our downed trees. The incessant roar of our generator is making me agitated and grumpy. With over 110,000 people still without power, we're told it'll be Saturday before we're up and running again. I'll be back then, if I don't run away and join the circus first...

I heard on the news about your wild weather. I'm glad to hear you are safe. Sorry to hear your power is out but at least you are well prepared with a generator.
I hope that this was the last of the weird and wild weather for the year and that your power is back on soon.

You have reason to feel battered and raw. It's one thing to be battling circumstances you personally have some control over but when it's nature dealing the wicked blows, it leaves you feeling violated and helpless. Not good.

So, so glad you still have a roof over your heads and are safe. Hang on. This, too, will pass. And be thankful for that noisy generator. I'm sure there are lots of people without power who are not nearly as self-sufficient or prepared. Hugs!

I'm glad you are all well. We've had some wicked weather here as well. We lost several trees last week. What is it with the weather this year??

That's terrible! I hope nothing was damaged too badly. I hate being without power, the simple things like flushing toilets I take for granted. Thank goodness for the noisy generator, but wow they suck fuel! When our power was out a couple weeks ago was when gas was close to $4 a gallon here, yikes!
