"To find the universal elements enough; to find the air and the water exhilarating; to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter; to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird's nest or a wildflower in spring - these are some of the rewards of the simple life." ~John Burroughs
Last April, I posted about an unlikely pair: Jemima and Betsy, a Muscovy duck and a Columbia Rock x Rhode Island chicken who had decided to co-nest on a clutch of eggs.
Looks like they're back together for a 2011 hatching!
Happy belated Mother's Day to all you wonderful mamas!
So sweet and funny! We've got a hen gone broody right now but she won't let any of the other girls near her and she cracks the eggs other hens are laying. Broody hens are interesting creatures ;)
(We've got a duck named Jemima, too - I'm willing to bet yours is named after Jemima Puddleduck like our is)
