"To find the universal elements enough; to find the air and the water exhilarating; to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter; to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird's nest or a wildflower in spring - these are some of the rewards of the simple life." ~John Burroughs
Fiona, Winter has finally arrived in Nebraska where I live. The whole midwest has had such a mild winter until now. Most are not happy about the snow and colder weather but I like the distinct seasons. To skip one just wouldn't be right or kind to the nature of things for this area.
Your country way of life so reminds me of the sweet memories of my childhood. Cream or the breakfast cereal, home made butter on the fresh baked bread, eggs right from under the chicken, fresh milk from the cow the morning it was milked from the cow are all comforting memories from my early days in life. I know that I will never be able to go back to that life style but I can grow a few vegetables and watch the wild turkeys, squirrels, and rabbits on my newly acquired land purchase.
Spring is only 37 days away and I'm excited about my garden expansion plans for this year. It's a lot of work but hopefully I can get a little help from my friends.

Have a great winter Canadian country living day.
Totally agree with you there Fiona, the simple things are always best.
Still get a buzz collecting wonderful fresh eggs from my girls every day.
Beautiful photos, cherish that egg! Hope you have many more as spring comes :)
